MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 9TH MEETING OF THE SABBATH CIRCLE
On Sunday the 9th, Sabbath Circle met with Sally, Carol, Sue, Betty and Ann in attendance.
Ann sat in for Bonnie, leading the ladies in the Opening Prayer. Per Bonnie's e-mail request, we discussed a date for our Christmas Party. It was agreed that the second Sunday in December (12/14/08) was as good a date. We will reveal our Secret Pals at this gathering.
We also decided to direct Shirley to order two Special Mission recognition pins for our next recipients. We also discussed the possibility of supporting a child through World Vision, which was brought to our attention at the Mission Fair. This matter will be relayed to our Executive Board for consideration.
Ann, then, shared information from the UMW "Response" magazine (June 2008, pages 38-45) on Mission giving on the Go. Our donations to the Scranton District are passed on to the Wyoming Conference, which passes the giving on to the Northeastern Jurisdiction and then on to the Women's Division for support of over 400 vital international and national programs that serve and empower women, children and youth. Of direct importance to us in Hawley are School of Christian Mission (held at Fatima each summer), Rekindle the Gifts workshop (held at Sky Lake each fall), Resurrection Women spiritual growth retreat (held at Lake LaDore each spring).
Shirley left her report showing a balance of $1,989.72 in our account. She also left us a list of charitable giving for this year ($375.00 already given and $925.00 yet to be donated).
A copy of these minutes have been given to Council and put in our UWM binder in the Church office.
Our next meeting will be December 14, 2008 at 8:45 a.m.
