_ Minutes of the January 8th, 2012 Sabbath Circle Meeting
Present: Shirley Michaels, Carol Ulmer, Peg Cox, Sally Love, Bonnie Carney, Betty Parker, Marcia Knisely, Diane Rixner, Jane Cullum, and Wendy Eisenhauer.
Bonnie read the Sabbath Circle Prayer, we again thanked Peg for writing this most perfect prayer for our group.
Most of those present paid their dues and they were given to Shirley for recording. If you were not present, Shirley may be sending you a card welcoming your participation. There were some mite boxes handed out for collecting our change which, when full, can be given to Shirley who will forward our annual donation to the World Thank Offering. We have historically been recognized as a Five Point Star UMW. One of those points is for our contribution to The World Thank Offering, thank you for your participation.
Most of the discussion today was our Calendar of events for the year. We did all vote to hostess the Lay Academy Luncheons which will be held on Saturday April 28th and May 5th. Shirley will be forwarding an updated list of our members to Bonnie in order to assure that all members are receiving notices of upcoming events as well as our planned activities. I will post the menu on Wiki-Spaces by our March meeting for your review and sign-up.
Diane speaking on behalf of herself and Janet Vallone, asked if we might consider re-instituting our Secret Prayer Pal Club. Everyone admitted to missing that fellowship and prayer support and agreed we should bring it back. Diane offered to accept the applications and match up the partners for 2012. Your application will be forthcoming, you may fill it out on-line and forward to Diane @ sandsbest3@echoes.net. There will also be some applications on the UMW table for anyone who I may have missed, or who does not communicate via e-mail. Please have these to Diane by Sunday the 22nd.
Bonnie asked us to save the date of June 24th. There are some nice events being planned to Celebrate the Pastorial Leadership of Marty and to wish him a long, happy, and healthy retirement.
We will be meeting on February 12 between services in the Library. Diane offered to lead the discussion and Marcia will provide the snack. Your attendance and in-put is most appreciated. If you are not able to attend a meeting, please don’t hesitate to forward your input, if a decision is pending, your opinion will be offered on your behalf.
